About Chris
ChIEF was established in memory of our son, brother, nephew, grandson and cousin.
Christopher Patrick Lytle developed diabetes at almost 3 years of age. Chris battled this disease with immense courage until his death at age 14. Chris’ struggle with Diabetes ended too soon. As a teenager his diabetes became a heavy burden, but he continued to be an example of how diabetes does not have to control your life.
One of Chris’ greatest gifts was his willingness to help his friends or strangers when they were in need. He started this at a young age and continued to give, even on the day he died.
ChIEF was established to continue Chris’ giving spirit. Through ChIEF we hope to provide assistance and education to children, teens and their families about Type 1 Diabetes. ChIEF which stands for Christopher’s Insulin Education Foundation works with local Juvenile Diabetes Chapters and Children’s hospitals to provide educational and recreational opportunities dedicated to teens and children with diabetes.
Donations and all profits from the sale of “ChIEF” bracelets goes toward providing financial assistance for educating the general public, those living with diabetes and especially friends and family of teens and children with this life-long disease. While JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) works to find a cure, all donations and profits from the sale of the “ChIEF” items goes directly to Diabetic Education for teens and children with diabetes. No member of the ChIEF organization receives any compensation for their time or work. Our current fundraiser is the selling of ChIEF bracelets.
We hope that you will join our effort to educate people about Juvenile Diabetes and what it is like to live with this disease. We thank you for helping us perpetuate Chris’ love for life. This quote exemplifies Chris’ love of life:
“Dance like no one is watching…
Love like you will never be hurt…
Sing like no one is listening…
Live like it’s heaven on Earth.”
